A trough-shaped container used for quenching process in metal heat treatment

As the core equipment of metal heat treatment, the quenching oil tank is mainly used to control the temperature and fluidity of the quenching medium (oil) to achieve rapid cooling and structural transformation of the workpiece. Its structure usually includes a thickened steel plate tank, a heating/cooling system, a circulating stirring device and a safety fire extinguishing mechanism. It can be divided into two types: open and sealed according to the usage scenario. The experimental equipment is easy to move and occupies a small area, while the industrial-grade products are equipped with complex modules such as a stirring circulation system and a safety fire extinguishing system. Some patented technologies optimize cooling uniformity through multi-level nozzle layout and reciprocating swing design to solve the quenching soft spot problem existing in traditional oil tanks.

Structural classification

The top of the open quenching tank has no closed structure and is suitable for conventional quenching operations. It is equipped with a nitrogen fire extinguishing pipeline to prevent oil combustion. The sealed equipment adopts a closed design, which is often seen in automated production lines. It can be integrated with a conveyor belt to achieve continuous operation. As a special open type, the reciprocating swing type destroys the steam film formation conditions through mechanical swinging to improve the cooling uniformity of the workpiece.

Functional system

The circulating stirring system consists of an oil pump, a heat exchanger and stirring blades, maintaining the quenching oil flow rate ≥ 0.5m/s and ensuring that the temperature fluctuation is controlled within ±3℃. The safety system includes an automatic fire extinguishing device and a liquid level monitoring module, which triggers the protection mechanism when the oil temperature exceeds 120℃. The heating system uses electric heating pipes or gas heating, and the cooling system uses a plate heat exchanger to achieve rapid oil temperature reduction.
